Caring for animals is one of the core values of our business.
At Smithfield Poland, all own and contract farms have an “Animal Welfare Policy” in place. The Agri Plus breeding company, guided by Directive 2001/88/EC, has 100% group pens for sows.
Each slaughter and processing plant employs a person responsible for animal welfare, reporting directly to the Managing Director of the plant. This employee oversees and monitors and documents all aspects of welfare in daily reports. The effective implementation of animal welfare procedures and instructions at Animex plants is confirmed by annual audits.
All companies transporting animals for us have the appropriate training and certificates issued by the Veterinary Inspection.
