Letter from the Management Boards of Smithfield Poland Group companies on the entry into force of new regulations on personal data protection (RODO)
Dear Sirs,
As of May 25, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016 is in force throughout the European Union, including Poland. on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and the repeal of Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), hereinafter: the “RODO”.
The aim of the RODO is to ensure that all EU citizens have as much control as possible over the processing of their personal data by businesses and that their data is adequately protected.
Our operations have been adapted to the requirements of the RODO and remain in full compliance with the regulations that are coming into force. We have developed new regulations, procedures, instructions and guidelines that regulate in detail the principles of personal data processing within the companies of the Smithfield Poland Group, including the principles of exercising the rights of data subjects. We have implemented additional safeguards to prevent any personal data security incidents. We have updated the information clauses provided to m. in. job candidates, employees, current, future customers, growers and contractors. We have introduced additional restrictions on entrusting the processing of personal data to third parties. We keep abreast of and analyze all data protection guidelines published by the Office for Personal Data Protection (formerly: GIODO) and the Article 29 Working Group.
As RODO imposes new information obligations on Smithfield Poland Group companies regarding the processing of personal data, we want you to know and be aware if we are also processing your personal data.
